Hello from Wiser

“Hello Dorothy,” said to Wiser. “Have you heard that Mr. Baum is writing a new book?” “Oh my, I can hardly wait to read it.” said Wiser. Dorothy asked him if he could read and Wiser just laughed, “of course I can read.  After all I’m very wise hence my name WISER!” “Have a nice day Dorothy, I must be on my way.”

Do you ever take the time to look up?

Hello dear fans, Have you ever looked at the sky and seen clouds? My wife and I love to look at the clouds and use our imagination. Many times we see different shapes, including different animals.  Yesterday we saw a bear as he moved across the sky. Next time, when you are outside, look up at the clouds and use your imagination.  What do you see in the clouds under the rainbow? Have fun! Love, Roger

Here’s a little peek at my new book—a little teaser. She cursed the people who live in the village. The only way they can be seen is if a visitor keeps moving. After spending a night in a hotel, it seems Dorothy and her family are trapped there!  How can they all escape? Stay tuned for more news. Love, Roger

Some Baum Family History

My Great Great-Grandmother, Matilda Joslyn Gage, was an American writer and activist. She worked for women’s rights, was an abolitionist, and fought for Native American rights. Many don’t know that she ran an “underground railroad” during and after the Civil War. She was born March 24, 1826, and died March 18, 1898, at the age of 71. She is honored by being in the Smithsonian. She worked with other activists like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Her daughter, Maud Gage, married L. Frank Baum, in 1882. They were my great-grandparents.  One of their sons, Frank Joslyn Baum, my

Dear Readers, Even this old wizard must admit—there are still wonders in the modern world that set my imagination dancing like Munchkins at a festival. Just today, while perusing the curious corridors of the interweb (a sort of magic mirror that talks back), I happened upon a delightful creation: LEGO has unveiled a spellbinding new set—Glinda & Elphaba Bookends—inspired by Wicked, that enchanting tale that re-imagined the witches of Oz. View the set on LEGO.com » LEGO, bless their plastic bricks and brilliant designers, has crafted something both playful and poignant. The bookends depict two of the most powerful and
